Newport Center Mall in Jersey City, NJ is located at 30 Mall Drive West. This is a three-level mall in the Newport Waterfront community. With more than 150 specialty shops and restaurants plus an eleven-screen movie theater, Newport Center Mall is a shopping destination of note. One standout feature of Newport Center Mall, tax free shopping for clothing, and at some stores, a three percent sales tax.
There are five clothing stores for the kids alone, plus a whopping ten jewelry stores. For those shopping for anniversaries and engagements, there’s no shortage of variety at Newport Center Mall. This New Jersey Mall has all the bases covered with three hair styling outlets, a dry cleaning company, even a travel agency!
If you’re shopping with a sweet tooth, the Nestle Toll House Café or Mrs. Fields Cookies are a must-stop, and the sixteen-vendor food court offers the usual famous fast-food fare; Arby’s, Sbarro’s, Steak Escape and more. There is one offering at Newport Center’s food court worth a second look if you want something different than the standard burger-n-fries—the Porto Rico Café.
Many New Jersey Malls offer special events, but Newport Center Mall goes a bit farther—seasonal breakfasts, holiday gift-giving showcase events, and contests to win seats at shows such as “Evita!” and “Jersey Boys.”
For those new to the area, the Newport Center Mall’s guest services department can assist with transportation; again, all the bases are covered from bus service to getting a ride on the Hudson/ Bergen Light Rail or Waterway Ferry. To drive to Newport Center Mall, take exit 14C on the New Jersey Turnpike by the entrance to the Holland Tunnel. Hours are 10 am to 9:30 pm Monday through Saturday and 11 am to 6 pm on Sundays.
